The future will bring big changes to the way our mobile phones look and function. Take a look at these eight concept models from the Nokia labs and start dreaming about the day where your mobile phone is no longer a bulky, stiff piece of iron and plastic.

Nokia Picture Frame

The Nokia Picture Frame is such an obvious idea that you wonder why it isn’t available already. It combines your normal mobile with an electronic picture frame, so you can place a photo of your loved ones next to your hotel bed, etc.

Nokia Aeon

The Nokia Aeon might be the closest thing to today’s mobiles in this post. It looks just like a traditional mobile if it weren’t for the big touch screen that covers the full surface of the phone.

Just imagine what a big touch screen could do to your phone. A cluttered screen would be a thing of the past and the buttons on the phone could change depending on what you were doing right now. Start messaging and you get a full keyboard to write on, start gaming and get a game pad, etc.

Nokia Remade

Most mobile phones are made of brand new materials, but it doesn’t have to be that way. It is possible to make new mobile phones out of garbage.

The Nokia Remade is made by reclaiming and upcycling materials like metal cans, plastic bottles and car tires. It functions just like a normal mobile phone, but cause far less damage to the environment.

Nokia Eco Sensor

Nokia Remade isn’t Nokia’s only attempt at making an environmental friendly phone. There is also the Nokia Eco Sensor which is made from plant based plastics and recycled steel.

The Nokia Eco Sensor connects with a wearable charging station that looks very much like a watch. The charging station is apparently solar powered, so you no longer need to electricity to charge your phone.

Nokia Open

The Nokia Aeon might give you a bigger screen than you are used to, but it can get even better. Just check out the Nokia Open to see the big screens that might be available in a few years.

The Nokia Open opens up like a fan to reveal a scrollable touch screen. Everything is placed on the screen and should be big enough for almost everything. Finally it will no longer be a nightmare to surf the internet on your mobile phone.

Nokia 888 Flexible

The Nokia 888 is an ultra portable mobile phone that can be transformed into almost any shape you can image. You can for example strap it on like a wrist watch, mould it into a belt clip or wrap it around the strap on your bag.

The Nokia 888 has an awesome flexible widescreen with touch functionality that covers the whole surface of the phone. The batteries are liquid, so they doesn’t hinder the flexibility of the phone.

Nokia Morph

The Nokia 888 might be flexible and ultra portable, but it still looks old-fashioned when compared with the Nokia Morph. The Nokia Morph uses nanotechnology to make it both flexible and stretchable, so you can truly mould anyway you like.

You can mould and stretch the Nokia Morph into a bracelet, a ball, a panel or just about anything else. You need to think of it like a rubber band. If you can mould a rubber band that way, then you can do the same with your Nokia Morph.

Nokia Scentsory

The Nokia Scentsory fold out like a paper airplane and reveals some truly unique functionality. Unlike traditional mobile phones, the Nokia Scentsory allows you to communicate on a multi-sensory level.

It can radiate colors, light, temperature and smell from the caller’s environment as well as detecting and sending information about your own environment. Thereby you will feel more connected with the caller and it will feel a bit closer to actually meeting in person.
